Mount Type
  • To mount the window blinds within your sash.
  • Creating a streamlined, crisp look in a simple way.
  • Maximize your space without hiding your beautiful window trim.

*For Roman blinds, we recommend a minimum window depth of 2 inches to ensure the entire shade fits within the window frame. However, since the mounting brackets for Roman blinds are relatively small in size, if you don’t mind a portion of the shade extending beyond the frame, a minimum depth of 1 1/4 inches is acceptable.

*Please note that an inside recess is designed to ensure the roller shade fits within the window frame. As a result, there may be approximately 1/4" light gaps on each side. If you’re concerned about light leakage, we recommend choosing an outside recess.

  • A method to fit the blinds outside your window casing.
  • Achieve a flawless look. Covering your casing aesthetically.
  • Allow minimal light to sneak in through the gaps around the edges.

*Outside recess is versatile for different window types, no minimum depth is required. Ideal for any room with shallow sashes or deep window sills.

Lift Control

All of our Cordless Blinds feature an advanced spring system with the following advantages:

  1. Smooth operation – Effortlessly glide without any snags or resistance.
  2. Convenient control – Stop the blinds at any position with a simple pull, offering flexibility and ease.
  3. Durable quality – Built to last, these blinds are designed for over five years of reliable use under normal conditions.
Measurement Guide
  • Width Measurement: Measure the inside width of your window sash at the top, middle, and sill, as marked in the picture. Take the smallest measurement and deduct about 3/8" to ensure the roller shade fits inside the window frame.

With an inside recess, there may be approximately 1/4" light gaps on each side between the shade and the window frame.

If light leakage is a concern, consider choosing an outside recess and increasing the width for better coverage.

  • Drop Measurement: Measure the inside height from your top sash at left, center, or right. Use the longest as your drop.
  • Width Measurement: Measure the outside width of your window casing at the top, middle, and sill as shown. Take its largest and add 1-3 inches(recommended) for ultra light control and privacy. If you have any questions, please email support@curtarra.com.
  • Drop Measurement: Measure your desired height and record it. We recommend adding at least 4-6 inches to allow window exposure when you roll the blinds up.

*If you prefer maximum exposure when blinds are fully rolled up, please mount them 4" above the top of the outside casing. And add at least 2 inches above the top frame for the headrail.

    Tips:

The bracket should not be placed too close to the three plastic parts inside the hard rail of the cordless system, as this will affect the system's operation.

    Blackout Lining

    • Select our Blackout Lining option for certain Roman blinds to ensure maximum privacy and effective light blockage.
    • The blackout lining guarantees that no light will penetrate the shaded area. However, if you opt for an Inside recess, a gap between the Roman shade and the window frame will naturally occur, allowing some light to filter through the gap.

For 100% light blockage, we recommend choosing the Outside recess option and ensuring that the Roman shade width extends at least 10 inches beyond the window frame.
    • Roman blinds with blackout lining have a slightly different look compared to front roll Roman blinds. The image on the left showcases a Roman shade with blackout lining.

Other than this visual distinction, the functionality and overall appearance remain the same as regular Roman blinds.
    • Roman blinds with blackout lining, don't have a swen trace on the center so that the fabric might move, need to train it.

    Motorised Control

    • For the 4th step of the customisation, please select "Motorised" to upgrade to the motorised option.
    • Our motorised blinds are powered by rechargeable lithium batteries, offering a crisp look and an effortless operation.
    • If you use a smart speaker such as Alexa or HomePod, our motorised blinds can be connected directly for voice control. If you don’t have a smart speaker but would like to control your blinds using your phone, simply contact our customer service team to purchase a hub device, which enables app-based control of your blinds.
    • No messy cords—it comes in a sleek style, just like cordless roller blinds. To recharge, plug in the Type-C charging cable. The cable is about 110" long by default. If you need a longer one, please speak with us for more details.
    • A full charge of the roller takes just 6 hours. Depending on the frequency of use, and typically lasts 3 to 6 months.
    • Seamless Setup: Each motorised shade is shipped fully charged for your convenience. Upon delivery, simply insert the battery into the remote—or remove the insulation strip if pre-installed—and your blinds are ready to use. No additional programming is required.

    FAQ

Do you have installation videos, not just written steps?

Yes! We have step-by-step installation videos available. Please visit the how-to videos page for the relevant video for your shade type.

Where exactly should I drill the bracket holes?

Don't drill from a tape-measure number alone. Hold the headrail (with the bracket on the right way) up to the window frame and mark through the actual bracket position and the screw holes, then drill a shallow pilot hole and dry-fit before committing to full depth. Keep brackets away from wherever the cord lock or lift mechanism sits inside the headrail; placing a bracket on top of it will jam the shade.

My shade's bottom bar won't close flat or looks uneven. How do I adjust it?

This can happen when the internal weight bar shifts slightly during shipping. Hang the shade first and make it is covering your window, then manually raise the Roman blind until the 2-3 pleats on the bottom are gathered. Then, use slightly more force than usual to pull them down and pull the bottom bar all the way to the bottom. If they are still not flat after this, please contact support@curtarra.com for a demonstration video.

Why won't my Roman shade go up or down after I mount it?

This usually isn't a defect. Check whether a bracket sits too close to the cord lock or lift mechanism inside the headrail, or whether one bracket is mounted at a slightly different height or depth than the other, which puts the headrail out of level and creates friction. Loosen the affected bracket and shift it by a millimeter or two before requesting a replacement. Next time, fit the bracket onto the headrail first, hold the whole headrail up to the window frame to check where it lands, then use it as your drilling guide instead of measuring and drilling separately.

    How to measure the shades?

There are different measures for inside-mount shades and outside-mount shades. Please read: How To Measure For Shades?

How to choose the lining type for Roman shades?

Curtarra offers three lining types for Roman shades: the White Lining (140 GSM) and Cotton Lining (137 GSM), both providing 30% light-blocking, and the heavy-duty White Blackout Lining (240 GSM) for total 100% light-blocking.

Are the shades easy to install?

Installing our custom shades is quick and easy! Each order includes a printed Installation Instruction, and you can also refer to our step-by-step installation video for guidance. If you have any questions, our 24/7 customer support is always available to assist you, ensuring a smooth installation experience.

What is the stacking height of the shade?

Stack back height (sometimes just called "stacking") is the vertical amount of space your window treatment occupies when it is fully raised or opened to its maximum extent.

Can I return the customized shades?

Because all of our curtains are handcrafted for you, unfortunately, they cannot be applied to other customers. As such, we cannot accept returns other than for quality issues. Please accept our apology.
