Blackout Roman Shades

Blackout Roman shades are fabric window coverings that form structured folds when raised and use blackout fabric or a blackout lining for stronger light control. Some decorative fabrics in this collection need the optional blackout lining selected; their unlined fabric is not automatically blackout.

Not necessarily. A 100% blackout rating refers to light passing through the fabric or lining. Light can still enter around the sides, top, or bottom. Mounting position, window coverage, and other light sources affect the room’s overall darkness.

Compare the decorative fabric’s texture, color, and listed light-blocking rating. Gary and Todd list 100% light-blocking fabric; other eligible designs offer a separate blackout lining. White privacy or cotton lining is not the same as blackout lining. Confirm the selected configuration before ordering.

Choose the product and mounting style first, then follow its measuring and installation guides. An inside mount gives a recessed appearance but can leave edge gaps. Where compatible, an outside mount with suitable overlap or layered curtains can improve coverage. No-drill versions require a compatible frame and their own installation method.

Gently remove surface dust with a soft duster or a vacuum’s soft brush attachment. Follow the care instructions for both the decorative fabric and lining before using water, steam, or cleaning products. Do not soak the shade, untie operating cords, or dismantle the lift mechanism.
