3 Steps to Simple Size Measurement Curtains
Your Easy Measurement Checklist
-
Step 1: Install Your Rod or Track
Mount your rod as close to the ceiling as possible and extend it 6-10" beyond each side of the window frame. This creates a more spacious look, minimizes light gaps, and allows room for the curtains to stack when open.
-
Step 2: Measure Your Curtain Width
For flat top styles (grommet, rod pocket, back tab), multiply your rod width by the fullness factor and divide by the number of panels. For pleated styles and ripple fold, simply divide the rod width by the number of panels. No rod yet? Add 12-30" to your window width to estimate.
-
Step 3: Measure Your Curtain Length
Measure from where the curtain hangs to the floor, then choose your finish. For a clean hover, go 0.5" shorter. For a light touch, keep it exact. For a luxe puddle, add 2-4". Note: Grommets start above the rod, pleated styles at the curtain top, ripple fold at the track bottom.
